Charity done with common sense and heart
Mates Fund exists to connect people who have something to give with communities who know what they need. We back practical, community-led projects through meaningful action, transparent funding, education and support.

What we do
Mates turns community-led ideas into practical projects by combining local knowledge, community fundraising, grant funding, business support and hands-on coordination. We raise money through our own networks and events, apply for grants where a project is ready, ask relevant businesses and specialists for advice, and work with local leads to make sure support is useful, realistic and accountable
Charity should make sense
Before we fund, build or launch anything, we ask whether it actually makes sense: who asked for it, who benefits, who is leading it locally, what it will cost, and how we will know it happened.
We sit between need and goodwill
There are communities with clear, practical needs. There are also people with the resources, skills and heart to help. Mates exists to connect the two — carefully, transparently and with respect for the people closest to the problem.
Serious work, human process
The needs we respond to are serious, but the way we work does not need to be cold, confusing or inaccessible. Mates is built to be practical, relational and human — because people are more likely to show up when they understand where they fit.
Doing charity differently does not mean making it complicated
For us, doing charity differently means listening first, keeping things practical, documenting what we can, and making it easier for good people to support good work.
